As promised we have the much anticipated pictures from Cade's birthday, Easter, and the wonderful Wall-E cake.
For the cake, I started with two 9x13 size cakes... marble swirl to be exact! We referenced another cake picture to build his body, head and improvised on his arms. The frosting is what took the longest but I think it turned out really well, don't you?
Saturday was a busy day. We had picked up Dan's parents at the airport late the night before and had an early morning as the kids woke up around 6 or so. The first item on the agenda was an Easter egg hunt. Thankfully everyone was able to go and leave me behind to decorate for the party. It seems as though everyone had a great time, got some great pictures and the weather was perfect for that activity. When Cade got home he found the dining room covered in Wall-E stuff and he was soooo excited. We were still waiting for party guests to arrive so we played with stickers, party blowers and tattoos. Once everyone got here the unveiling of the cake and the singing began. You'll see on the video that Cade had a love/hate relationship with the attention. He makes such funny faces! Cade LOVED the cake and really enjoyed licking the frosting. Next were the presents. Thanks everyone for the birthday presents for Cade! He had a wonderful day and he still talks about it.
Sunday was of course Easter and it was a pretty good one. We gave Cade an Easter basket and had a wonderful dinner with Dan's parents and Cheryl. We've been attempting to eat healthier so we had ham, green beans, salad, water and rolls. Everything was delicious! Afterwards we attempted to decorate easter eggs. I say we attempted b/c every effort we made to be creative fell flat.. as did a few eggs thanks to Cade.
Dan's parents will be here for a few more days while his Dad builds us a garden and then we'll continue with our crazy lives. On the bill is a baby shower and then the circus! :)
