So remember when I said the weather might hinder our flights a little bit? I should have said it will make our day a complete disaster. We awoke at 4am, got ourselves to the airport and even boarded the plane. While it had been snowing lightly, planes were still taking off and I was quite excited to get going. The planes had to be de-iced before take off and the de-icing truck ran out of fluid. It took so long to get it refilled that when they were ready to de-ice us the winds had picked up enough to ground ALL of the flights in Norfolk. We'd already been sitting on the plane for an hour and a half, and then had to wait in line for two hours to figure out how and when we'd be redirected! The only thing that made it possible to get through those two hours in line was a` nother woman my age with her 2 1/2 year old. She was 8 months pregnant so we debated who had it worse, me with two kids or her pregnant with a toddler. Finally I was told that the best option was to fly out of Norfolk at 5:55pm! Thankfully Jenn could come pick us up and let us sit at home for a few hours before starting all over again. Yes, I REALLY wanted to go through security AGAIN! The mixed blessing of these late flights was that the kids slept almost the entire time. In fact, Cade was so zonked that he slept on a chair for the whole 2 hour layover in chicago. We got into Denver near midnight (2am to us) and didn't get to sleep until about 1:30. And while it was great that the kids slept, I didn't. Alex awoke just a few hours later and Cade shortly thereafter making for a very long two days. Still, we made it and were excited for the 8 days in Denver! I'll try and post frequently this week with the many pictures we took and share the exciting adventures we had! Keep checking back with me!
