Ramblings

It's been awhile since I've blogged. Just like it's been a long time since I've written in my journal. Sometimes you just reach a point where you don't know what to say. Time passes and then you wonder how much of the gaps to fill in. So, I'll do my trusty dusty family member update.

Dan- Work has been busy. It's summer so people take leave here and there and he's been doing not only his job, but two others. In fact, he just got the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and it actually recognizes that he was filling two billets simultaneously. I like the last sentence on the certificate because it truly sums up how awesome my husband is. "Corporal McBride's professionalism, personal initative and unswerving devotion to duty reflected great credit on him and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army and the United States Naval Service." Not many army soldiers will have the navy and marine corps medal! Still no promotion yet, but he hit his 2 year mark this month. Wow, time flies!

Laura- I'm a mom. What more can I say? I've been sick for the past few weeks but life doesn't stop. With the summer weather I've been trying to keep the boys out of the house and out of my hair. I love my boys, but they really have a lot of energy and they drain mine quickly. I always need a little help from something else to make it through the day. Somedays it's just the park, the gym, the grocery store or even the waterpark. A group of us from church are going to go to Ocean Breeze every Tuesday and I think it will be a lot of fun for the kids and us moms!

Cade- He is starting to really enhance his vocabulary. Full sentences are coming regularly now and most times they're hilarious. Like the another night during dinner. *BURP* "Cade, what do you say?" He grins and says, "That was a big burp!" We all burst out laughing and then finally got the usual 'excuse me' out of him. He love Alex and says, "He is a cute baby." I couldn't agree more. Also Cade seems to be going through some sort of growth spurt. He is constantly hungry. "Mom, I'm sooo hungry. My tummy's rumbling." But he's not the best eater. Today he had two lunches and a weak dinner. But then he's been waking up with pains in his legs that we can only think to be growing pains. Poor thing.

Alex- What can I say about Alex? He's turning one this week and I just can't believe how fast this year has gone. He still is a difficult child to handle but there are always the fun times that make up for it. Dan and I have been thinking of the best way to describe his personality. He's strongwilled. Stubborn. Strong. Determined. Aggressive. Trusting. Momma's boy. Brave. Loving and loyal. I try to hand him off to even Dan and he clenches on tightly. He loves bonking heads, even with himself in the mirror. He loves being outdoors and in the water. I can't take him out back unless I'm holding him b/c he ingests every little leaf, stick, piece of chalk that comes his way. While I'm holding him out back so he doesn't eat anything he constantly dives out of my arms to get down to the ground, so we come inside and he cries at the door. His favorite toy is the couch. He'll crawl from one end to the other and just lay down, then twist in unimaginable ways and do it all over again. He's not walking yet and we're not even going to push it. My hope for Alex is that as he learns to communicate more and more that he'll cry less and less. We've started sign language and he is doing well so far.

Funny how if you had asked me what was going on I could not have come up with anything, but by talking about the family individually all sorts of things came out! Things in the future for us are a trip down to NC to see Charles' family, Robert's family, Jon & Dee, Kristina's family (and her new little Bensen!) and Gerrie & Sarah. It should be fun and it's practically a family reunion! My brother is coming to visit for the 4th of July and then we have our cruise in September! Hooray! Well, now you probably wish I hadn't written a blog at all since it ended up so long! :D
