Just another day

We had a wonderful Valentine's weekend, though our original plans had to be changed. We were expecting the company of Brett, Kristina and Juliet Foutz (Dan's sister & family), but they were unable to make it. While we missed what could have been, we still made the best of the holiday. Since we already had a dinner reservation and a sitter for Saturday we went with just the two of us and enjoyed eating without interruption. After a nice meal we came home and had fondue! Bananas, strawberries, oreos, pretzels, marshmallows all dipped in chocolate... mmmmm. For gifts I wanted to get Dan a watch as a promotion/valentine's present. We ended up finding the perfect one at Zale's. Well what I didn't know is that while Dan was getting it adjusted and I was walking around with the kids, he found me a Valentine's present there too! You can see the picture below of my first diamond necklace! Hooray! It's beautiful, thanks Dan!

For president's day dan had the 'day off '. Unfortunately he got a call at 8:15 asking him to come in and unlock some doors. Some maintenance had been scheduled even though not everyone would be there to let them in. What we thought would be a half hour interruption turned into an all day thing. Dan didn't come home until 4:30 or so. At this point we were glad that Kristina hadn't made it in since we would've had one day less to spend with her. Grrr!

There are some events on the horizon for us. Dan leaves on Wednesday for WLC (Warrior Leadership Course) and won't be back until March 14th. This is my first taste (very small taste in comparison) of deployment. I'm not sure what the course is for, why he has to do it, and what he'll be doing! I just know that I wasn't sure I could handle that much time alone yet, so I decided to go visit my mom in Denver. I'll be gone March 2nd-March 10th. I'm not sure who'll need prayers more. Dan at WLC, or me with two kids on a plane. Any tips? We've got the DVD player and the double stroller. Potty trips will be interesting, and I'm sure I'll have lots to blog about! Until next time!

  1. I just wanted to say, that if a video clip of a laughing baby isn't enough to make me ultimately happy, the lighting and angles pushed my smile even wider. Nicely executed ... and good luck with the boys. The only advice I can offer is bribe one and drug the other. (Perhaps there's a reason I haven't procreated yet.)
